I have been painting for over twenty years. I took many art classes in high school and college while getting my degree in biology and chemistry. I taught science at the middle and high school levels for seven years before deciding to pursue my life-long dream of becoming a professional artist.
I love drawing and painting in many mediums. My current collection features unique acrylic paintings in a variety of color schemes. I start with reverse-painted plexiglass that I began to experiment with years ago after painting critter enclosure backdrops for my classroom. My husband (who enjoys woodworking) came up with the idea for the custom hardwood frames. We added aluminum backing to some pieces for some extra interest.
What I love about this collection is how versatile the pieces are (many can be stood on a shelf or hung on a wall), and how unique each piece is. My favorite part of the process is removing the protective paper from what ends up being the front of the piece once I'm done painting. I don't actually get to see what it looks like until it's finished - it's like opening a present with every painting.
